A reflection by Sr Lynne, fcJ from the FCJ Sisters Blog
After a recent evening workshop on hope, we invited the participants to consider ways in which they too can be ‘tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel’ (Pope Francis).
The invitation to find ways to be pilgrims of hope is a challenging one in the current climate in which the negative is emphasised, and yet we also acknowledge so much goodness around us, and so many actions of mercy and compassion that spring out of the most difficult situations.
As the participants left, they received a small packet of native wildflower seeds. These are simple native flowers that will spring up in all sorts of places – in cracks in the pavements, at the edge of a lawn, on a piece of wasteland. They are resilient, hardy, and beautiful. And they will offer a stepping stone to pollinators between the parklands and gardens of the city.
The invitation to sow hope doesn’t require much of us; we can sow the simple, trusting that hope is resilient and that the people and places we are in are thirsting for it!
