Sr Marion fcJ was taken by surprise when a post from Living Water Myanmar appeared on her facebook thread. Living Water Myanmar project began in FCJ House, Yangon in 2010 when Maw Maw, a Buddhist student from the Dry Region lived with the FCJ Sisters. Marion had her in her English class in Campion Institute. Maw Maw became a good friend and from her FCJ Sisters learned many things, and in particular of the enormous problems in the Dry Region regarding availability of water for cooking, hygiene and plant life.
From the sharing of Maw Maw’s stories regarding the impact of water shortages, a seed was sown. Rosemary, a FCJ friend from Australia who came each year to help was in Yangon at the time. She said she would start raising funds for Water Collection Tanks in Australia and vouched she would die happy if she could raise funds for 100 such tanks before she died. Rosemary has been extraordinarily committed to the cause and she is well on track to having a very happy death when the time comes because at least 490 Water Collection Tanks have now been built all around the Dry Zone providing numerous schools and small villages with access to water.
Marion says: “… so touched by the love, thoughtfulness and generosity behind it. It is the best gift possible – to provide clean water in the Kyaukpadaung, Mt. Popa, Dry Zone of Central Myanmar. So many wonderful memories came flooding back of treasured friendships with Rosemary Breen, Maw Maw and Saya Toe. Heartfelt thanks for this precious gift and for your love and faithful commitment to providing clean water to numerous schools, homes and villages over these past fourteen years. You are incredibly close to your target of 500 Water Tanks, Rosemary! Congratulations, love and many blessings to each of you for what lies ahead.”
