Every year a team of volunteers from Neighbours In Poplar led by Sr Christine Frost fcJ assemble in St Matthias, in Poplar, East End of London, a few days before Christmas to start preparing vegetables for Christmas and Boxing Day. This past Christmas they were cooking for almost 500 people; a LOT of potatoes, carrots, parsnips and Brussel sprouts! Stuffing balls were prepared by the Scouts, and Dave and Catherine carved turkeys and hams. Names and addresses were carefully assembled, covering the whole Borough of Tower Hamlets. People had been referred by social providers, neighbours, care agencies and health centres.
