Hello! I’m Audrey, fcJ. Since leaving my native Singapore and joining the FCJ Society in 2014, I have lived on three different islands, learnt two new languages, and experienced a diversity of cultures. Living interculturally is challenging, but has enriched me in so many ways. I have been privileged to meet inspiring people from different walks of life, and work with them on issues of justice and peace.
Even more interesting than this unexpected outer journey, though, has been the surprising journey inwards. Part of my ministry now involves discovering new ways to speak about God and our inner journeys in the rapidly changing world we find ourselves in today. Did you know that the first group of FCJ sisters arrived in Australia on 1 June 1882?In our 135th year, we recognise and celebrate the Twelve sisters, from Ireland and England, who disembarked from the SS Liguria at Sandridge (Port Melbourne) after a voyage from England that lasted six weeks. They were missioned in response to an urgent call to help with the education of Catholic children in Australia. It wasn't until a few years later, in 1889, that Genazzano FCJ College was established.Our Stained Glass in the d'Houët foyer is a constant reminder of this significant part of our history.

Women’s Month is always celebrated in style at the FCJ Learning and Development Center in Metro Manila. Very many of the people who participate in the Center’s programs are women and they are the heart of their families and of the wider community. Often their lives are far from easy, but in spite of financial difficulties and few educational opportunities they strive to create a better future for their families with courage and ingenuity.
