Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy at Spanish Point

Open House at Spanish Point

Nóirin Lynch, director of  FCJ Spirituality House – Teach Spioradálta writes about what has been happening there.  In July the FCJ Sisters return to their home for retreats and holidays – but to begin they offer a special Open House experience during Willie Clancy week.

As the holiday season began in earnest; the annual FCJ Sisters Open House for Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy was held in the first week of July.  Many thanks to everyone who organized, welcomed, visited, drank tea, presented, prayed and chatted here all week, especially (Sr) Marion fcJ who gathers us, the international team who volunteer, and Shona McMillan for music all the way from Scotland. Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís.

Each day the house was full at 2, 5, and 10pm for talks or night prayer with plenty of visitors in between too!

Musicians and volunteers at the Open House, including six FCJ Sisters and a FCJ Companion in Mission

Work has continued on our Cosmic Path project as well. Mosaics have been completed and varnished, texts developed and work on the website continues. We hope to keep this outdoor reflection space as simple as possible by having all the information  on the website, accessible with a simple QR code as one arrives. We will keep you updated on progress.

A particular note of thanks to Fr Donagh O’Meara who is a consistent support and advocate for our Spirituality House, describing it often as a Sanctuary in the community. For Willie Clancy week, the already busy parish decamped their daily Mass on Tuesday to us, so that as many locals as possible had the chance to visit, be welcomed and consider coming again! Fr Donagh, Rita (our parish/cluster pastoral worker), and the whole team arrived with extra chairs, buns and enthusiasm on Tuesday morning. Over 60 people attended, and many people commented afterwards on the beautiful prayer and music, welcome and hospitality!! We are blessed to live and work in the cluster of Críocha Callan.

As we enter August, we give thanks, we plan and we look ahead. For some August is a time of rest, for others the planning for Autumn and winter begins again.

The FCJ Spirituality House, Teach Spiorodálta, is a home and spiritual haven of the FCJ Sisters, who have come to Spanish Point for generations for spiritual nourishment and refreshment. Now we would like to share our home with the wider community through spiritual moments, enjoyment of the natural beauty of creation, and the lifting of spirits with music, art and poetry.

Please see the events page for current listings. You can contact the House at info @ fcjspiritualityhouse.ie or by phone at +353 87 447 9115 with any questions.
