Maria Katherine McDermott fcJ

Photo of Maria Katherine fcJ.
Born in Salford, UK, Maria entered the Society in 1975. She taught Business studies for a number of years before being missioned to the role of Province Bursar. This role has changed over the years as the Province has developed and Maria is now responsible for the FCJ financial and property management across Europe. In addition to this role, Maria works as a counsellor and play therapist.

Maria’s role at the Chapter is recording secretary.

I have found it very interesting to be here and have enjoyed meeting FCJs from across the world. The atmosphere among the delegates and in the Chapter room seems very calm and peaceful. There doesn’t seem to be a pressure of lots of additional meetings for delegates or anxiety about the process.

Finding our direction for the next number of years is kind of satisfying, it's gracefilled — it’s something important and it is encouraging.

My feelings on the Chapter so far

“More than I could have hoped for! Having been on the Chapter Planning committee I am thankful that the process has been received with such great openness.”
