From Sunday to Wednesday, March 11-14, 2012, FCJ Sisters — Ita Connery, Pat Desnoyers, Anouska Robinson-Biggin and Terry Smith — were the Province delegates to the National Association of Vocation and Formation Directors Conference, held this year in Calgary.

The theme of the Conference was Called to Discipleship, Witnesses of Hope.  The Keynote Speaker was Br. Sean Sammon fms and the Facilitator was Sr. Elizabeth Davis RSM.

Br. Sean spoke along three themes: The Journey We Have Come, Charism and the Work of the Holy Spirit, The Road Ahead.  He spoke with clarity and passion and threw out several challenges yet inspired us to be witnesses of hope, and on some occasions, even outrageous hope!

As well as general sessions, we all had the opportunity to attend up to three workshops on a variety of themes. Ita Connery presented a workshop on 'A Discerning Heart, An Open Soul' which was both well attended and very much appreciated.
Quotes from the Conference:

Young people are looking for community and spirituality, they already have ministry.
Do we offer this and is it genuine?

If your founder/foundress knocked on your community's door today,
would he/she recognize
the charism they had passed on?

If we look honestly at ourselves, individually and as a group,
and let go of judgements and injustices from the past,
we free our energies to be creative.

When there is a failure in chastity, everyone has an opinion.
When there is a failure in charity,
it is often ignored.
Vatican II invited us
to read the signs of the times.  Are we still reading those times
rather than the sign of the times
in which we live now?
Religious Life is the conscience
of the Church.
On whom or what do I set my heart?
