FCJ Sisters — Faithful Companions of Jesus

FCJ Badge.

In the Society, we are companions,
faithful to the Lord and to each other.

We stand at the foot of the cross of Jesus
uniting ourselves with the redemptive offering
of the risen, glorious Christ
that we may become a community
of his faithful companions in spirit and in truth.

We seek to find in prayer
the mind and heart of Jesus
so that we may find God in all things
and be to others messengers of his saving Word.

Tabernacle door, Redriff Convent FCJ.

Strong in companionship with Jesus and with each other, we work together in the service of the Church
to build the body of Christ.

Our Society was founded through the instrumentality of Marie Madeleine Victoire de Bengy de Bonnault d'Houet (1781—1858).  It had its origin in Paris, France, during the night of Holy Thursday to Good Friday, March 30th 1820.  We follow in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ with our Lady and the Holy Women and were founded at the foot of the Cross.  The first house and ministries of the Society began in April 1820 in Amiens, France where Marie Madeleine had, since 1814, come to know the members of the Society of Jesus and appreciate the Ignatian spirit.

To have this Name, Faithful Companion of Jesus,
          I would give everything,
all that I am ...     (Marie Madeleine)
