IRELAND - Child Safeguarding Policy

Inspired by Gospel values, we Faithful Companions of Jesus in Ireland strive to live with integrity, respecting the dignity and the rights of each person, particularly those of children and vulnerable adults. We wish to honour the well-established right of all children and vulnerable adults to be respected, nurtured and protected.

Strong in companionship with Jesus and with each other
we work together in the service of the Church
to build the body of Christ. FCJ Constitutions

In 2016 the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus in Ireland committed to the:

(View the Policy & Standards here.) The FCJ Sisters are also following the Procedures / Guidance of the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCC) insofar as it applies to us.

As a constituent member of the Catholic Church in Ireland, we recognise and uphold the dignity and rights of all children, are committed to ensuring their safety and well-being, and will work in partnership with parents or guardians to do this. We recognise each child as a gift from God, and we value and encourage the participation of children in all activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual and social development.

All Church personnel (including clergy, religious, staff and volunteers) have a responsibility to safeguard children through promoting their welfare, health and development in a safe and caring environment that supports their best interests and prevents abuse.

We, Faithful Companions of Jesus in Ireland, wish to reassure all that we are committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and will work with the NBSCCCI to ensure that this commitment will continue to be a priority for us. We apologise sincerely to any person who may have been harmed by a member of our Congregation.
