Formal transfer of Irish FCJ Schools to Le Cheíle, February 2010 — Ireland
As reported in a news item on these pages in September, the symbolic transfer of the FCJ trusteeship to Le Cheíle, took place at the beginning of the current Irish school year. There were ceremonies to mark this historic development at FCJ Secondary, Laurel Hill, Limerick, at Colaiste FCJ, Laurel Hill, Limerick and at FCJ Secondary, Bunclody, County Wexford. It was reported then that the legal process of transfer was still in progress. This is now complete.
On 4th February, the formal transfer of trusteeship from the twelve different Congregations to the Le Cheíle Schools Trust took place. The President of Ireland, Mary McAleese together with the Founding Members of Le Cheile are in the picture above. Sr Maria Dunne, FCJ Provincial is in the front row 2nd from the right.
In her address, President McAleese, (pictured left) acknowledged the work of the many priests, brothers and sisters who brought high quality education to every corner of the country. The President paid tribute to the congregations who set up the Trust whom she said “have come together in a very positive and proactive way creating new clusters of collaborative endeavour which will ensure that the schools can not only continue into the future, but can do so dynamically and energetically fired by the charisms and rich cultures which each congregation represents but also driven by the synergies that Le Cheíle offers."
The students had the opportunity to work together, (Pictured below) and at the end of the gathering sang a blessing for the President; a fitting end to this momentous event.
We thank all who have worked to make the vision of the Trust a reality!
The FCJ Sisters pray for God’s blessing on all the Schools of the Le Cheíle Trust!
