A Welcome in English - Santiago de Compostela
August 12-25, 2013
The Camino to Santiago is a well-known pilgrimage route across Europe. This year for the first time a group of religious worked together in Santiago to provide an English language chaplaincy for pilgrims. The group worked alongside the Confraternity of St James.
Lynne Baron fcJ and MaryAnne Francalanza fcJ were part of the group. They welcomed pilgrims as they arrived, provided a place for them to talk, share stories and reflect on their Camino.
Each morning there was Mass in English in the cathedral, followed by coffee together in a local cafe, and a chance to meet other English speaking pilgrims. Each evening closed with a simple Examen and sharing on the day.
After the chaplaincy work, Anouska Robinson-Biggin fcJ along with several others, joined Sisters Mary Anne and Lynne to walk the last 100 miles of the pilgrimage into Santiago. They all completed the pilgrimage.
