The Irish Gathering - Spanish Point, Co Clare, Ireland
12th to 15th July 2013
The FCJs in Ireland decided to host a 'Gathering' of the Irish FCJs who do not live in Ireland at Ibricken Lodge, our Retreat and Holiday house at Spanish Point, which was rebuilt in the 1980's.
As Mary Galvin writes: It was the ideal setting for us on those sunny hot days. Memories of previous cold, misty days there in the past faded fast! Lucky us- thoroughly spoilt and enjoying every minute of it!
There were about 17 of us ... a very flexible programme allowed each one to choose her activities, punctuated, no doubt, by delicious meals, much chatting, swimming and fun. Celtic designs were everywhere in the house reminding us of our heritage 'the wonderful spiritual force at the heart of longing' (John O'Donoghue) and enhancing our enjoyment of this inspiring reunion.
'Find me in the ground beneath your feet, Find me in the life-giving air around you. Find me in the rocks and crags carved smooth, jagged, etched by ages.' (from our Sunday prayer).
With special thanks to Sisters Maria Dunne, Mary Leahy and Brid Liston for their generosity, investment of time and skills which made it all happen.
Until we meet again...May God hold us in the hollow of God's hand.
