Conference banner with school logos.A Gathering of FCJ educators
Liverpool Hope University, June 27-29 2013

Over 95 teachers from 9 FCJ schools in Britain, Jersey, Ireland and Belgium came together for reflective work on FCJ ethos in schools.  The meeting was the culmination of three years of intensive preparation. Throughout this time representatives from the British schools met on a regular basis to explore the meaning and lived practice of FCJ school ethos.

During the conference, Sr Margarita Byron fcJ, Provincial, presented each participant with a copy of a reflection booklet on ethos.  As Margarita writes in the introduction ‘This booklet  is born of the enthusiastic commitment of a number of dedicated educators – members of staff in FCJ schools and FCJ Sisters.  Over three years they reflected together, shared their insights and wisdom and came to a contemporary expression of the distinctive FCJ spirit to be found in our schools. The FCJ tradition is rooted in Ignatian spirituality which follows the insights of St Ignatius of Loyola founder of the Jesuits.  It is a long tradition, has flourished in many parts of the world and is well tested.’

The residential gathering was facilitated by Ruby Cribben from New Connections which is based in New Jersey. USA.
