Photo of Sr. Margarita fcJ.The first article, "Margarita, un ejemplo de solidaridad y compromiso" (Margarita, an example of solidarity and commitment), described Margarita herself:

For the past 8 years, Margarita has worked in one of the most abandoned parts of the capital city, Salta, the Southeast zone

Firm and resolutes, she has a special sensitivity that allows her to feel empathy for those in need. She was born in London 71 years ago and at an early age felt called to be of service to others. Margarita says that at 19 she knew she wanted to be a Sister and at 21 entered the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus. Her life as an FCJ Sister led her to South America, where her her faith and commitment grew even stronger. Margarita went first to Bolivia and then she was sent to Santiago del Estero to help in a centre for special children. Her work also involved her in human rights issues, especially accompanying the 'Madres de Dolor', victims of the regime of Carlos Juarez who governed the province of Santiago del Estero for more than half a century. Margarita states that this experience was very important for her.

In Salta now for eight years, her task of solidarity and socail action focussed on the neglected southeastern neighborhoods. She was working with Stephanie Earl fcJ, to establish a centre for special children. Sadly Sr. Stephanie was killed in 2010 in an accident on the ring road, 'Circunvalación de Solidariad'. Even before that accident, Margarita had begun to raise awareness of the need to prevent more accidents and, with a committee of neighbours, to approach the authorities demanding the installation of traffic lights. As well, the committee give driver education classes.

Sr. Margarita and the neighbourhood group meet the governor. The reporter refers to Margarita as a tireless fighter with an enviable tenacity, who is working to form a training center, job opportunities and a public library. Active advocate, a fighter, with a desire for justice that translates into the necessity to obtain for the most poor a better quality of life.
